Pilates in Morocco: studios, prices and how to choose
Pilates has grown quickly across Morocco's larger cities, but the gap between a dedicated studio and a gym class using the name is wide. Here's how to tell them apart, what to expect to pay, and where to practise.
Where Pilates is practised in Morocco
The offering concentrates along the Casablanca–Rabat corridor. Casablanca has the most studios by volume, reflecting its size and an earlier-maturing fitness market. Rabat has fewer, but a higher proportion of them are dedicated Pilates spaces rather than classes attached to a gym.
Marrakech's offering leans towards hotel and resort classes, generally Mat-based and aimed at visitors. Tangier and Agadir have a small number of studios. Outside these cities, equipment-based Pilates remains rare — if Reformer specifically is what you want, you are realistically choosing between Casablanca, Rabat and Marrakech.
Mat and Reformer — what you'll find
Mat Pilates needs no machinery, so it is by far the most available. It is also the harder of the two to teach well: with no springs to assist or resist, the instructor's eye is the only thing correcting you.
Reformer Pilates uses a sprung carriage that adjusts resistance to the individual, which makes it more approachable for beginners than its appearance suggests. It has become considerably more available in Morocco over the past five years, though a studio with a maintained set of Reformers and someone qualified to programme on them is still not the norm.
What Pilates costs in Morocco
Prices vary by city and by whether you are in a dedicated studio or a gym. As a national range:
- Mat group class — roughly 150 to 250 MAD as a drop-in
- Reformer group class — roughly 250 to 400 MAD as a drop-in
- Private one-to-one — roughly 300 to 600 MAD per session
- Packs of 5 or 10 typically reduce the per-class price by 10 to 25%
How to judge a studio before you pay
Four questions separate a genuine Pilates studio from a class using the name. They work anywhere in the country:
- How many people are in a class? Above eight, individual correction stops. Six or fewer is where technique is built.
- Where did the instructor train, and for how long? "Certified" alone means very little — ask which school and which method.
- Can you take a single class before buying a pack? Any studio confident in its teaching will say yes.
- When were the Reformer springs last replaced? Springs and straps wear; a studio that knows the answer is one that tracks it.
Practising in Rabat
Our own studio is in Hay Riad, Rabat — Mat and Reformer, capped at six people, taught by Redelia, a South African instructor trained in the classical method. Monthly plans, packs and private sessions are all available, and prices are published in full rather than quoted on request.
If you are elsewhere in Morocco, the four questions above matter more than any brand. A class that fits the problem beats a class that fits a logo.

Pilates in Morocco — FAQ
Where can I do Pilates in Morocco?
Dedicated studios concentrate in Casablanca and Rabat, with a smaller offering in Marrakech, Tangier and Agadir. Reformer equipment is mostly limited to the larger cities.
How much does Pilates cost in Morocco?
Expect roughly 150–250 MAD for a Mat group class, 250–400 MAD for Reformer, and 300–600 MAD for a private session. Packs typically reduce the per-class price by 10 to 25%.
Is Reformer Pilates available in Morocco?
Yes, though it is far less common than Mat. Casablanca and Rabat have the most studios with maintained Reformer equipment.
How do I know if a Pilates studio is any good?
Ask the class size (six or fewer is ideal), where the instructor trained and for how long, whether you can take a single class before committing, and when the equipment was last serviced.
Is Pilates suitable for beginners in Morocco?
Yes. Both Mat and Reformer have beginner entry points, and Reformer in particular suits newcomers because the springs adjust the load to the individual. Look for studios that let you try a single class first.
